why do I do ceramics?

Ceramics to me, is a release. Everyday for almost an hour, I am able to take my mind off of everything. Ceramics gives me the ability to think about nothing, while creating something beautiful and my own. With my art, I strive to create pieces that invoke curiosity and thought, pieces that are aesthetic and pleasing to the mind and eye. I create art for my own satisfaction.

When creating my projects, I find inspiration in many things, and strive to create each piece to be how I imagine them and sketch them out to be. I experiment with different materials, studio clay, porcelain, mirrors, paint, glaze.

Currently, I have been challenged in advanced ceramics to create more interesting work. I've created the different textures in my handheld piece to engage the viewer more. Ceramics is a relaxing part of my everyday life, and I really enjoy working and getting my hands dirty to create something unique.
